The 8th Habit by Stephen R. Covey

I am only 3 chapters into The 8th Habit by Stephen R. Covey and he has already given me something to think about. The section is called The Whole Person Paradigm and the paragraph that resonates with me is:

‘The fundamental reality is, human beings are not things needing to be motivated and controlled; they are four dimensional – body, mind, heart and spirit.

People want to Live

People want to Learn

People want to Love

People want to Leave a legacy i.e. a contribution

People have choices including where they work and who they work for. Organisations need to tap into the four key dimensions of what it means to be human in order to get the best out of its talented people. So

Treat people fairly

Help people develop and grow

Treat people kindly and with empathy

Give people a purpose

They look so simple when written down so why do businesses and leaders struggle?
